School holiday sustainable staycations 2026: Availability and prices from £25 per night

As more people rethink school holidays in 2026 amid ongoing flight disruption concerns, we’ve asked some of the UK’s most sustainable UK staycations for their availability and pricing across the summer holiday and half-terms.

From remote cabins and lakeside retreats to forest hideaways and eco-conscious farm stays, the best sustainable escapes in the UK offer a slower, calmer way to travel, without the stress of unpredictability.

Whether you’re planning a family escape, a romantic weekend, or a digital detox with friends and the dog, these eco-retreats combine beautiful scenery with thoughtful design, seasonal food and genuinely restorative experiences.

Looking for a staycation that offers the best of the UK coast or countryside? You’ve come to the right place. Each retreat in this list is truly rural – perhaps nestled in a wildflower meadow or alongside a lake or deep in forest – offering a genuine opportunity to disconnect and unwind and contemplate life with a starry-sky backdrop.

In fact, multiple breweries, and a gin, whisky and brandy distillery are all within driving distance.
