Sarafumi: What is it?
Sarafumi is a personal care brand based in Guernsey, offering candles, re-fillable diffusers and creams made with high-quality natural waxes and essential oils.
The Sarafumi story began with founder Sarah Kelly’s passion for beekeeping. She discovered the wax her bees produced could be used to create candles and creams. Initially experimenting with fragrance oils, Sarah quickly realised she wanted something more authentic that echoed the natural beauty around her. This led her to learn the art of perfumery, crafting her own unique scents using only what the earth provides.
With a focus on sustainability, Sarafumi was born. Sarah committed to using responsibly-sourced, natural ingredients and embraced transparent practices that allow customers to understand exactly what goes into each product.
“My ethos has always been to marry the rich aromas of my island home with eco-friendly ingredients and responsible practice,” says Sarah. “With sustainability at the core, I blend my love for honeybees with local fragrances to create luxury products that are empowered by nature.”
In a nod to Guernsey’s heritage, many of the products are named in the island’s historic language, Patois. This brand is a story of connection with the land and a celebration of natural beauty. And it all starts with a honeybee.

Sarafumi: How sustainable is it?
From handmade candles and diffusers to their best-selling hand creams, Sarafumi’s product line is free from synthetic materials and microplastics, aligning with Sarah’s dedication to sustainability and health.
Understanding the harmful effects that many candles can have on both our health and the environment, Sarah set out to create a product free from synthetic or toxic chemicals. Sarah personally hand makes each candle using 100% natural ingredients, combining natural wax and essential oils. The wicks are crafted from 100% natural fibres, while the wooden lids are sustainably sourced from French forests, and the porcelain jars are also sourced from France, designed to be easily cleaned and repurposed.
Packaging is also a key focus for Sarafumi, ensuring that every element is fully recyclable. Their boxes and printer ink are recyclable, and the packaging for their creams is fully recyclable, from label to container.
Sarafumi also strives to give back to local communities. They proudly support charities like the Pink Ladies Breast Cancer Support and Guernsey Mind, and actively participate in fundraising events.
In recognition of their dedication to sustainability, Sarafumi has been awarded the Butterfly Mark, an assessment based on international agreements, global frameworks, and future-forward standards. Their candles, diffusers and refill are also Leaping Bunny Certified.
